WHISTLER
WHISTLERAn all round winner on every account with some of the best skiing to speak of and a great in-resort vibe. RESORT OVERVIEWBig by any standard
This resort is big by any standard and thanks to the punters flocking back again year after year the accommodation options now spread over 3 distinct areas namely, Whistler village (the main resort base), Blackcomb Base and Creekside (currently undergoing development for the 2010 Winter Olympics).
The villages are traffic-free and are packed full of lively cafes, bars and restaurants although the hub of the resort is really Whistler village.
No matter where you stay the action of the slopes is never too far away.
SKI AREAIt’s like being a kid in a candy shopWhere to start when detailing one of the top ski resorts on the planet.
The delectable mix of terrain which truly will appeal to all levels of budding snow hound have helped mark Whistler on the all time great map.
Beginners will be off to a flying start with the help of the reputable ski school.
There are nursery areas on both mountains and once the confidence is up novice skiers can head to the top of either mountain for a bit of altitude adventure whilst descending the gentle runs all the way back down to resort.
Intermediates have a playground full of snow-filled opportunities on both Whistler and Blackcomb glacier and the powder filled bowls at the top of Whistler Mountain.
The terrain in Whistler is an out of this world experience for seasoned experts; it’s like being a kid in a candy shop with endless opportunities for mischief.
The numerous powdery bowls here will have you working up a sweat and newly opened terrain in Flute bowl is a ticket for adventure.
Add to this the possibility of heli-skiing and you are up for a serious memorable treat with a trip to Whistler.
